Redhat 6.5 System——Preferences——Input Method 

    勾选  Enable input method feature 前的框。

    点击    input method preferences 

    选择第二项    input method —— select an input method —— chinese —— 选择第一个 pinyin 

    点击 add 。

    然后关闭。之后可以通过 Ctrl+ shift  切换输入法。Ctrl+ space 切换中英文。
